This afternoon, I was backing out of a parking spot in a crowded lot. I was going under 5 mph and backed into someone. There was a very small dent in their bumper in front of the passenger tire. No damage to my car. They pulled over. I gave him my name and phone number and told him to call me. He said they would probably pull the dent out themselves or that it couldn't cost more than $100 to fix . I didn't get any of his info and only gave him my name and phone number. But after I pay the house off I can get homeowner insurance because the deed will be in my name? I am in quite a situation, I financed a 2004 Ford Mustang 40th Anniversary Edition car from a local car dealership in South Carolina. When I got my loan they told me my payment would be 261.00, I told them I wasn't familiar with what sort of insurance I needed and they offered to set it up for me. They called Geico and then told me my insurance would be 150 a month, I got out a pen and added 261 and 150 and decided to get the car because it fit into my budget. 4-5 months later I get a letter from the bank telling me I have the wrong insurance and I need full coverage which will cost me about 520 a month instead of 150. I can't afford that insurance and the lowest quote I can get is for 380 which is still to much. My question is, is this a matter I could get a lawyer and sue over? My credit is completely destroyed now because I can't afford the car / insurance so I can't just trade it in and get a new car financed. Hey guys, I have some questions for you. I am 17 years old, and want to buy my first motorcycle (supermoto). I think I have a good idea on what it costs, but i'm just unsure. First off, i'll need to get my license. What'll that cost me? (California). I do have a car license, so getting the motorcycle license should be short and sweet, but i dont know. secondly, i'm going to get some motorcycle gear. I figure I'll be in 500$ with both license and gear (nice used leathers probably). Then i am going to get the bike which costs $4000. Being a supermoto, the insurance should be cheaper right? DRZ400sm if that helps. So between monthly payments and insurance, I should be in... 200$ a month? then gas, social life, blah blah. What do you think I need to be making monthly to make this happen. I bring in 500$ a month, and have 600$ in the bank as of now.

If someone makes an auto insurance claim against me, does my insurer have to infrom me?

Two years ago a girl rode her bike into my car as I pulled into my driveway. There was no damage to my car but she fell as a result of it and called her mother who asked for my insurance information. The police came and after the girl and her mother filed a police report, deemed that it was her fault for a) riding on the sidewalk and b) for not stopping when she saw the car because i was already mostly in and witnesses could prove that. Anyways, today I was shopping around for a new insurance quote when I was told they couldn't offer me coverage as I made a claim in 2010. This is the only incident that happened that year. Now, my insurance provider never informed me that a claim had been made. My premium went up but when I asked all I was told was that they had yearly increases. Is it their legal obligation to inform me if a claim has been made. If so, what are my next steps to a) clear this up and b) take action against my insurance company?
